| Developer eyes supermarket in Lapu project |
| Thursday, 28 August 2008 16:08 | ||
PROPERTY developer AboitizLand Inc. will expand its commercial property development project in Lapu-Lapu City to provide lifestyle services to locators at the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) 2, tourists and nearby residents.The expansion of Pueblo Verde will result in the development of nearly 19,000 square meters of total leasable lot area, where a supermarket will soon rise, in addition to the five-storey iMEZ that broke ground last Aug. 8, 2008. AboitizLand is in talks with a national supermarket chain over the Pueblo Verde retail facility. The expansion project will also result in the enhancement of existing facilities at Pueblo Verde. These improvements, according to Floramie Vega, commercial leasing Manager of AboitizLand Inc., will make the property more prominent and increase its relevance to the market that it serves. Vega said the expansion will include a bigger terminal for public utility vehicles. The retail and service outlets within Pueblo Verde will also provide the ideal lifestyle support for BPO office personnel who will occupy iMEZ, the employees of MEZ 2 companies and other patrons. Pueblo Verde covers a total of 2.1 hectares (more than 20,000 square meters). Approximately 7,300 square meters of the area has been developed and around 2,000 square meters is being earmarked for common areas. Several retail, dining, financial and service establishments have opened within the Pueblo Verde development. Conveniently located at the entrance of MEZ 2 along Maximo Patalinghug Highway, Pueblo Verde is a master planned commercial hub with a distinctly modern architecture that displays charming Filipino-Spanish design influences. “The complex will have the look of a town center, not like a traditional mall,” said Vega. The iMEZ itself will have retail outlets on the ground floor for added convenience to BPO companies that will occupy the upper floors of the building. BPO companies will find iMEZ an ideal location because of a 200-percent power back-up infrastructure that is guaranteed to keep all vital systems running at all times. Power rates within Pueblo Verde are also competitive so locators do not have to worry too much about high electricity consumption costs. Since iMEZ is located within an economic zone, BPO companies will enjoy the same tax holidays that are granted to occupants of Philippine Economic Zone Authority-registered establishments. “Of course, another advantage is that this property is being developed by AboitizLand, which has an established track record of designing and developing distinct communities for industrial, commercial and residential use,” Vega said.
