Estimating Floor Joist and Wood Flooring
Saturday, 12 April 2008 08:49
Floor joist is the structural member of a building that carries the wood flooring. The best way of estimating the number of floor joist is by direct counting based from the detailed framing plan of the building. However, in the absence of a detailed plan, estimating could be done by dividing the span of the girder by the spacing of the floor joist plus one to get the exact number of joist.

There are two methods on how to determine the required number of pieces and board foot of T & G for a given area:

1. By Direct Counting Method
2. By the Number of Pieces per meter run or length.
