Construction exhibits to fuel industry growth
Thursday, 08 May 2008 23:33
{mosimage}With overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), retirees as well as those in the business process outsourcing companies stimulating demand for residential homes, another sector is reaping profits: construction industry.

Indeed, with the country's construction industry enjoying a rebound (after the financial crisis that erupted in Asia in mid-1997), one event manager believes holding two events-one in Cebu this June and another in Manila this September-would definitely show how far the industry has marched forward. "Because of the enthusiastic response of our exhibitors, we will be bringing in more dimensions that promise to revolutionize the way local exhibits are organized," says Lilibeth Ducut-Abais, managing director of LA Ducut and Co.

The 16th Construction Show Cebu is set on June 6-9 (3rd floor of Cebu Trade Hall in SM City Cebu) while the Construction Show Manila is scheduled from Sept. 4 to 7 (new SMEX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City).

50 years

Abais says her group will be bringing to Manila their team's combined exhibitions and marketing experience of over 50 years (Abais was formerly one of the major exhibition managers of what used to be the only international exhibitions center of the country, the Philippine Center for International Trade Exhibition).

Abais adds that Construction Show Manila's exhibit directory and exhibit website will maximize visibility to volume buyers.

"The directory will be published in Slivers Builders and Architects Professional Magazine, a trade publication with a 30,000 readership nationwide while the site www.ConstructionShowManila.com will maintain exhibitor information, before, during and even after the event," Abais informs.

Latest trend

The Manila event will also feature Product Watch, which will highlight the latest industry trends alongside emerging construction products that are showcased at the exhibit.

Product Watch will create top-of-mind awareness for participating companies as it will be presented in three major media formats-print advertisements; press and photo releases and feature articles; and online content in the website-to amplify target visitor interest.

"The exhibition in Manila should be very interesting. Based on the high-level trade show skills and exhibitor services they have provided in the past, the company believes the upcoming Construction Show Manila will also be huge," comments Edison Oribiana, Davies Paint business development manager.

Orbiana agrees that the success of the Manila event will help the industry maximize international exposure as well as alliances of the industry's various players.
