Another Wilcon wall collapses in Parañaque City
Tuesday, 07 August 2007 02:53
Another portion of the wall built by Wilcon Builders for its storehouse collapsed before noon Monday, QTV’s Live on Q reported.

No one was reported hurt, but the fence fell on the convenience store and the car wash area of Total gasoline station.

Architect Elmor Vita, Paranaque building official, said that he was in a meeting with Wilcon officials to investigate Thursday’s incident at the construction site when he learned of the second incident at about 11 a.m.

Three workers were killed and 13 more injured after a firewall collapsed during the construction of Wilcon's depot in the city shortly before noon Thursday. “During our meeting today ay biglang biglang bumagsak nga ito," he said in a separate interview with dzMM radio.

Vita said that before the collapse, the local government had scheduled the demolition of 20-foot firewall after noticing that it was already leaning.

He said they will also demolish the other parts of the wall.

“Ipinadedemolish na namin itong natitira, hindi kami aalis dito hanggat hindi nade-demolish. Mahirap na, baka maulit na naman" he said, saying that rains may further weakened the structure.

Parañaque City Mayor Florencio Bernabe had ordered the suspension of the construction permit of Wilcon Builders for the construction of its depot. - AMITA LEGASPI, GMANews.TV
