Transco to put up P2-B more in transmission lines
Tuesday, 22 January 2008 22:36
THE National Transmission Corporation (Transco) recently signed a P3 billion contract for the construction of additional transmission lines for Southern Mindanao.

In an interview last Tuesday at the Medispa, in SM City Davao, with Milfrance Capulong, corporate communications officer of Transco, she said the construction of the Maramag, Bukidnon to Bunawan, Davao City portion of the Abaga-Kirahon-Maramag-Bunawan 230 kV Transmission Project Line will provide a more efficient transmission of electricity at an increased amount.
"It will be another backbone of the power grid of Mindanao," Capulong said.

The latest project of Transco, according to Capulong, would in a way avert the feared power crisis.

"There is an annual growth of 6 to 8 percent in the power demand of Davao City, and the increased capacity of the transmission lines will enable the power generators to supply the demand," Capulong added.

The project will cover the construction of steel towers, switching stations, and the installation of high capacity power lines.

Based on the contract, the project is to be completed in 450 calendar days.

Transco is directly transmitting electricity to the Davao Light and Power Corporation, Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative, as well as to the private firms of Apex Mining and Holcim.
