Tupas said there are already two big companies based in Saudi Arabia that approached him for possible investments in the province. The governor said that the companies are eyeing to put up factories for mango preservation that would be exported to Saudi Arabia. "We can realize this once we have direct international flights," he said. The province of Iloilo could also promote its tourist destinations like the oldest Golf Course in Asia located in Sta. Barbara town, where the NIADP is going to be inaugurated by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Wednesday. "Golfers from Hong Kong could just fly to play golf in Sta. Barbara," Tupas said. The NIADP, however, will initially accommodate domestic flights of the Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines. It is expected that the airport can later accommodate special flights because of its international standard quality. The airport has an initial construction cost of P6.2 billion, which came from a loan with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and a counterpart fund from the Philippine government. (PNA)
