DMCI Power to push P7-B power plant
Thursday, 17 January 2008 22:13
DMCI Power Corp., the power generation arm of the Consunji group, intends to push through with its planned P7-billion 100-megawatt (mw) coal-fired power plant in Panay even without partners.

DMCI Power president Nestor Dadivas, however, said they have been receiving numerous offers from interested parties for the project.

"We have very interesting proposals from other parties. With or without a partner, this project will push through," Dadivas said.
Dadivas admitted that DMCI has yet to firm up talks with one of the potential partners, First Gen Corp.

"The company is now in the implementation stage of the clean coal power facility but we have not come into an agreement in some major issues," he said.

According to Dadivas, they would start the construction of the P7-billion power facility soon. The project cost will be partially covered by a possible financing from local and international lenders.

"The coal-fired circulating fluidized bed (CFB) plant is moving forward and we expect to break ground in February or March," he said.
