Jeff Tisdall, Kingdom Hotel vice president, told reporters during the launch of the proposed Raffles Hotel Manila yesterday that the company was focused on emerging markets where there is a lot of growth. “It is possible [for us] to go,” said Tisdall when asked if the property developer is considering other projects in other locations in the country. Raffles Manila is the third Raffles Hotel project to be developed by Kingdom Hotel after Raffles Praslin in Seychelles, Africa and Raffles Da Nang in China Beach, Vietnam. The Seychelles and Vietnam projects are beachfront hotel and residential developments. “The company remains focused on emerging markets. We continue to look for opportunities. We look for locations that afford the same high growth,” said Tisdall. The group, he said, had singled out the Makati central business district as location for the 30-story glass tower development with a Raffles Hotel and limited residences component. “Manila is a market where we are excited by the growth rate. The economy is entering an exciting phase, and the market is suited to Kingdom Hotel’s emerging markets strategy,” said Tisdall.
