De Castro announces housing fairs
Friday, 06 June 2008 11:29
{mosimage}The Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) will hold two Housing Fairs as part of the celebration of the 110th anniversary of Philippine Independence.

Vice President Noli de Castro, HUDCC chairman, said the Araw ng Kalayaan 2008 Housing Fairs will run from June 10 to 12 at the Rizal Park and from June 12 to 13 at the Freedom Park of the Aguinaldo Shrine in Cavite. Thousands of foreclosed housing units from the inventories of Pag-IBIG Fund, Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), Bangko Sentral, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and Social Security System (SSS) will be offered to the public.

The housing units are available through housing loans at interest rates as low as 6 percent per annum, or with discounts ranging from 10 to 20 percent for cash buyers.

Several private developers will also participate to showcase their housing projects.

De Castro will open the Cavite Housing Fair on June 12 after the Independence Day flag ceremony at the Aguinaldo Shrine, to be held simultaneously with the celebration at Manila’s Rizal Park led by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The Vice President will be joined by Cavite Governor Erineo Maliksi, Kawit Mayor Reynaldo Aguinaldo and other local officials.

This is the sixth time HUDCC will be holding a Housing Fair since the first one at the Glorietta Mall in Makati in October 2006.

“The Housing Fair in Kawit is our Independence Day offering to the people of Cavite,” De Castro said.

“There is a different kind of battle that our country is fighting today, the battle against homelessness. But with the continuing support and cooperation of the local government units, we can provide decent and affordable homes to our people and win this battle,” he added.

The Provincial Government of Cavite under Governor Maliksi will be developing a 53-hectare housing project in Gen. Trias, Cavite. Dubbed Pamayanang Maliksi, the project has received 3,353 applications, mostly from families in Gen. Trias, Bacoor, Dasmariñas and from provincial government employees.
