Recio minus Casas
Monday, 16 June 2008 12:19
{mosimage}THE two-decade-old partnership of top architectural firm Recio+Casas is headed for the splitsville, according to increased industry chatter.

It was not immediately clear what the reason was for the impending breakup, although managing partner Jose Pedro Recio had already quietly informed select clients that the partnership would be formally de-merged in September.

Founded in 1988 in Hong Kong by Recio and his Ateneo high school and University of Santo Tomas architectural classmate Carmelo Casas, Recio+Casas returned to the Philippines in 1992 after winning the design competition for the ABS-CBN broadcast complex in Quezon City. In addition to the Lopez network, the architectural firm was also responsible for the designs of Pacific Plaza Towers, One and Two Lafayette Square, Richmond Hotel, Kingswood Makati, Robinsons’ One Gateway Plaza and the Church of the Gesu in Ateneo de Manila University, as well as the yet unbuilt iCon condominium in The Fort and taipan Lucio Tan’s the Emerald Loft in Ortigas.

Despite the impending break-up, Recio+Casas was as late as April still advertising for architectural job positions within the firm.
